Using the Last Minute Villas Forum/Bulletin Board

We have added a new Bulleting Board or Forums system to our site. The intent of this new feature is to allow our members to interact and communicate important issues pertaining to vacation homes.

In order to post into the forums, you must be a member of the site and you must have logged into the site with your username and password. (You do not have to log in to read the forums.) Additionally, you must either have a paid home on the site or be an administrator of the site in order to post into the forum.

The forums are divided up into subdivisions that relate directly to subdivisions on the site where homes are. If you are an administrator, you can post into any forum subdivision. If you are not an administrator but own one or more homes on the site, you can post into any subdivisions where you have paid homes.

To make a post, use the browse utility to go to a subdivision where one of your homes resides. If you have permission to post into that subdivision, you will see a text field prompting you to make a comment at the bottom of the page. Note that no HTML is allowed. To break up long posts, hit the ENTER key twice to make paragraph breaks. When you are done with your post, hit the submit button.

Note that your post will not be made public until an administrator or moderator has flagged your comment as “Published”.

Forums Usage Policy

The intent of our forums system is to allow our members to communicate about issues that are important to the areas in which they own homes. That said, it is important to note that this forums has its limitations in scope. There are certain topics and language that are inappropriate for the forums. We do not allow the forums to be used to belittle our members or to flame our site. Any posts that are inappropriate will not be published. Moderators that allow such posts will lose their permission.

The types of topics that are in the scope of our forums follows:

  • Subdivision Development & Constructions Issues
  • Villa Industry Economics
  • Useful villa home resources

Moderators

The administrators of a site may give specific members the “VILLA_FORUMS_MODERATOR” permission. Each member who is given the moderator permission may alter the flags of any forum post that is made into subdivisions he/she oversees. A forum moderator oversees all subdivisions in which he/she owns a paid home. Possible actions for post flags are:

  • Pending – This is the default flag for new posts. Pending posts have not been reviewed by a moderator or admin.
  • Publish – This flag makes the post valid for public viewing.
  • Need Administrator Review – This flag is set meaning that the moderator feels that the post should be reviewed by an administrator before publishing or deleting.
  • Delete – This flag will permanently delete the post.
