List your Vacation Home or Holiday Villa

List your Vacation Home or Holiday Villa

The forms on our Villa Sites devoted to administering your vacation home are described in detail on this page. Please take some time to read over this page to understand what all the fields mean and what they will do for your home.

You must put in an accurate address for your home. Please note that if you provide false information on this form, you are forfeiting your account on our site.

Before adding your home details, you should type out a complete description of your home in a Word Processor. If you take too much time to submit this form, you may get logged out and lose information you intended to post!

Form Fields

Villa Address

The fields under Villa Address pertain to your vacation home’s geographic location. Enter the street address, zip code and city of your home. If available, enter the country and state (some of our sites may not require a country and city). All fields listed in this fieldset are required. Note that the actual street address of your home will not appear on the site.

Next make sure to select an accurate Area and Subdivision. Please note that you must have JavaScript enabled on your browser for the proper subdivisions to appear*. If the subdivision your home belongs to is not on the list, please contact us and we will consider adding your area.

Optional Information

Here you will enter information relevant to your villa that may add more detail to your home. None of these fields are required.

  • Villa Title: Adding a title will ensure that your home appears with a name rather than just a number in the directory (and it will help boost its search traffic via Google and other search engines).
  • Keywords: Enter words that you think visitors might enter to find your home. Enter a comma-separated list of words. Try to think of words that relate to your home but do not necessarily show up in your villa description (below).
  • Website URL: If you have a website for this home, enter it here. If you do not have a website, simply leave this field blank. Your pages will include links to your home, increasing your website traffic and internet rankings.
  • Virtual Tour URL: If your home has an online virtual tour, enter the link here. Otherwise leave this link blank.
  • Calendar URL: If you keep a calendar for your home online (and do not wish to use our built-in calendar) enter your calendar address here. Please note that we strongly recommend that you use our in-site calendar as this will ensure that your home is listed accurately on our site. (We list on many pages according to your home’s availability.)

More Villa Settings

These options list more details about your home, including how many rooms your home is as well as whether or not your home is pet friendly, handicap accessible, offer snowbird specials. There is also an option to select if your home is a Condo. Currently, the Condo option does not have an effect on the site, but we will possibly add a page to display Condos separate from other homes.

If you check any of the flags (like Pet Friendly, etc) then all listings of your home will include the icons displaying that flag.

Inbox Settings

These settings are important to the way you receive email enquiries. Making the right settings on your Inbox Settings is very important for your successful use of our sites. To make an informed decision, you must understand how our Inbox system works. Essentially, we offer three ways of receiving your vacationer enquiries—Email, RSS and Inbox. You can use the RSS method at all times, but you must make a choice as to whether you want to use the Inbox or the Email for standard email. If you choose “Use Site Inbox”, you must login to the site to read and reply-to your enquiries. If you do not choose “Use Site Inbox”, you will receive an email every few hours with all the latest enquiries relevant to your home.

There is also a set of Room Options that set limits on the enquiries you will receive from potential vacationers. This works in the following fashion—when a vacationer enters an enquiry into our system, the vacationer chooses the amount of rooms they would like as well as an option to state they are flexible. If the vacationer chooses to be flexible, his enquiry will go to all relevant homes that have checked the number of rooms matching that vacationer’s input. This means that you can try to entice willing vacationers even if your home does not have the number of rooms the vacationer asked for.

While your instinct may be to check all of the rooms to get more enquiries, you may find that some sites have limits on the number of rooms you can check. Furthermore, you may find that checking all of the options brings in too many emails for you to read.

Villa Overview, Details, Description & Text

This area of your villa form is where you will put the majority of your advertising text. You should make sure to type out all of your information in a Word Processor before filling out this form—that way you can be sure to check for spelling and grammar. Doing so will also help prevent you from losing information due to being logged out (if your browser has a length of inactivity longer than 10 minutes, you may get logged out and have to re-submit your form after logging in again).

  • Feature Phrase – This text will appear with your home’s thumbnail if it has been featured (you must purchase monthly features separately from listing). If you leave this field blank when your home is featured, it will simply say “FeaturedVilla”.
  • Site List Description —This is the content that appears with your home on directory pages (pages listing multiple homes in an area and/or subdivision). This text is limited to 350 words. You should enter complete sentences.
  • Enquiry Response –This field is your home’s standard response sent to anyone when you respond to an enquiry via the site’s inbox or RSS feature. While you can also send a custom response, this allows you to place a standard response for your enquiries about this home so that you won’t have to retype them every time.
  • Complete Description –This is the main area for your description of your home. Here you should write a complete description, including all the reasons why anyone should rent your home. Be as descriptive as possible. Note that if you leave the "Full HTML" checkbox unchecked, hitting ENTER will create a line break—so you can hit ENTER twice to space paragraphs. If you are using Internet Explorer, you can also format your text with the Text Format tools located above the Complete Description field. (The format tools only appear for Internet Explorer users. The tools help create HTML tags.)

Images & Files

Below the main form is a window with forms for adding photos to your villa. You do not have to enter your photos right away. You can always enter your home details and later add photos or edit the villa information. If you have taken a long time on your form, you should consider skipping the photos and adding them later.

Another consideration with your Images and Files form is that you must be careful about loading files that are too large. We suggest that you always shrink your images before loading them to our site. Also, remember that we only accept JPG and GIF images. You should always shrink your images to 800 pixels wide or less—since large images may timeout and be unable to load.

You can load more than one image at a time. The form can also accommodate other files like video and sound, but you may have to pay extra to be able to load video, sound, etc.

By default, the first image you load is your villa’s primary photo (appearing in directory and feature displays). You can change which photo is your primary photo later on by changing the image sort order of your home.

While all you need to enter for your files is the file itself, it is a good idea to give each image (or other media file) a name (the Alt Text) and a description (Media Cutline). Also note that you must choose a Media Type in order for it to appear on main pages—if you choose the type of “Other” the image will not appear on all pages. Note you can always change these details after your home has been loaded.

*If you enter your villa details on a browser that does not have JavaScript, you must later update your villa details to make the proper subdivision appear.
