Villa Duplicate Address

Villa Duplicate Address

Sometimes you will get this message when posting or updating your villa information. The reason you get this message is that the address for your home matches another home in our database, and we only permit there to be one listing per home on the site.

There are three situations that this usually happens, which are explained below:

  1.  You previously entered your home into the database with your current account or even another user account.
  2. You purchased a home from someone who has previously listed the home onto the site.
  3. You just loaded your home onto the site but inadvertently hit the post villa button or refresh button on your browser after posting a new home. (This means that your home was added into the system, but the refresh or double post attempted to add the same home again.)

If you get the message in the third case, you will not need to do anything—you can simply disregard the message. But if your home has been on the site for a while, the alternate home must be deleted. This process is not automated because our team must have proof of ownership before we will delete a home on multiple accounts. (If both homes exist on a single account, we will delete the home that the owner wishes us to remove.)

This policy was not enacted until 2007, which is why it is possible for there to be multiple listings for a home of the same address on the site. New homes cannot be added that match homes already on the site.
